No. Some customers want to last their present lead acid charger, it seems there is the similar charging voltage with lithium iron phosphate battery, however, we do not recommend it. LFP battery has a higher voltage per cell and tighter voltage tolerances during the different charging phases, particularly do not need Trickle/Float charge setting for LFP battery. This is about feature of very low self-discharge rate of LFP battery.

Yes, A two stage charge program of CC/CV is the regular charger for the lithium batteries, it is not required to leave the charger plugged in and wait for going into the standby or trickle charging stage, because Lithium battery takes a very low self-discharge rate and cannot accept overcharge , and it is a kind of simple chemistry system of taking what it can absorb.

Unless it particularly confirms its availability that the lithium battery can be charged by the alternator, we do not recommend using this method. Please inquire with our sales service and ensure your purchased battery product is compatible with being charged by alternators. An abuse charge can cause the damages for battery's circuit and the alternator itself.

A lithium battery has built protection circuitry that can either prevent from the excess current entering the battery(like a battery management system or protection module) or convert the excessive current to heat through a resister (like a balanced circuit). Both designs of controlling the excessive current prevent the battery from overcharging.

Lithium iron phosphate batteries can be charged as a higher C charge rate. The charging time is depending on many variable factors, both the battery capacity and charger size are the regular factors in them and which is varying anywhere from 2~8 hours. For example to fully recharge a 12.8V/6Ah LFP battery using a 12.8V(14.4V)/1Amp charger would take 6.5 hours approximately if the battery was in a fully discharged condition. Typically, we recommend taking two stages of charge for lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries, Constant Current and Constant Voltage. The lithium battery does not require a float charge like lead acid battery to reach full charge purposely. However, in some standby applications, although the lithium battery will deliver the most full capacity even though it has not been charged for 6 months or more. However, it is better to provide an extra stage of topping charge depending on the voltage in the charger for a longer standby period in case some parts draw a very low power consumption still from the battery when the battery is not in use.

Depending on a CC/CV charge step, Stage 1 & Stage 2, on the charger. Increasing the charge current does not expedite the full-charge state greatly. Although the battery reaches the voltage peak faster, the saturation charge will take longer. That means that with a higher current, Stage 1 is shorter but the saturation during Stage 2 will take longer, as using a higher current can quickly charge the battery to about 70% SoC.

The status of charge (SoC) of the battery depends on the requirements of how to use the battery. For many users, the focus is on the battery life and quickly obtaining the status of charge of saturation charge for the battery, which can be different from the needs of industries. The best operation experience of the end customer is the most important factor to set for using lithium batteries continuously.

Yes. Typically, it is recommended to recharge the lithium battery with the constant current (Bulk charge) making the battery voltage raised rapidly, then it fully charged when the current drops to a set level accordingly, at the moment, the saturation charge (Constant voltage) will rise the voltage up between 14 to 14.6V. If the voltage of recharging the battery is below this range, the state of charge (SOC) of battery will not be the full charge, it is at a partial state of charge (PSOC). Discharging the lithium battery under the partial status of charge (PSOC), will not damage the lithium battery or cause a bad consequence. In some cases, this offers a major advantage for renewable energy storage such as a solar panel and wind energy turbine, because they cannot always fully charge the battery.

Yes, the battery supports it if needed. A LiFePO4 battery can be discharged at depths of up to 100% without the risk of damage. However, be sure to charge your battery at once after discharge. Technically, the criterion is limited to 80~90% depth of discharge (DOD) is recommended in order to protect the disconnection of battery management system and prolong the battery life as well.

The rate of discharge for LiFePO4 versus lead acid is outstanding different. LiFePO4 battery almost has no effect on accordingly the consumption rate of its capacity while rising the rates of discharge. Instead, if the same operation with the lead-acid battery will significantly have a reduction of the capacity down to half because of gradually increasing the rate of discharge.
